Dark Matter - Works by Francisco Ricarte " is about to open!

Macau Portuguese photography artist Francisco Antonio Ricarte will have his solo exhibition “Dark Matter – Works by Francisco Ricarte” in AFA Macau at 6:30 p.m. on March 17 (Thursday). Francisco’s upcoming exhibition at AFA is part of the “As Within, So Without” – The Art of Imagery Exhibition Series.

Prior to becoming a professional architect, Francisco Ricarte has been practising photography since the 70’s. Since then he has been using the medium as an expression of his own view on his surroundings. In 2006 he moved to Macau and worked as an architecture project manager until today. In recent years, Francisco has been participating in various group exhibitions where he presented his photography works mainly based on themes of landscape and architecture.

Francisco is presenting a series of 12 photography works in the current exhibition. The series “Dark Matter” was created in 2021 during the outbreak of COVID 19, when the artist was confined in his current resident city of Macau. “Dark Matter” refers to a component of the universe whose presence is discerned from its gravitational attraction rather than its luminosity. To manipulate a vision is the fascination of an artist, who by inner urges so profound which can hardly be described into words, builds an imagery that did not exist except in his own mind.

“Dark Matter - Works by Francisco Ricarte” is partly sponsored by the Macao Foundation. Media partners include Hoje Macau and Ponto Final. The exhibition will be opened to public from March 18 to April 11 2022.
