Richard Koh Fine Art (RKFA) , in collaboration with the Blue Art Center (BAC), is pleased to announce the open call for 2024 Artist Residency Programme.

This initiative aims to provide a vital platform for emerging artists from Southeast Asia to grow and thrive in the dynamic world of contemporary art.

The residency programme is designed to support artists in the critical early stages of their careers. With a strong commitment to fostering talent, the programme offers selected participants the invaluable opportunity to experience diverse working environments within the art industry. Through in-person placements at art organisations and spaces of varying scales and natures, artists will gain invaluable insights into the operations of the art ecosystem.

Rather than functioning as a traditional art incubator, the residency serves as a gateway to observe and learn from the operations of different art organisations and spaces. This approach encourages adaptability and openness to various working environments and styles, enriching the artist’s professional journey.

Selected applicants will spend dedicated time at the Blue Art Center, during which they will craft their own residency schedule. This schedule includes a community outreach component, where artists will conduct art classes for children aged 8 to 18 years old on Saturdays. Details of the residency formats with our other partner programmes will be announced in due course.

Blue Art Centre (BAC) Project was conceptualised in 2011 by acclaimed Cambodian visual artist; Svay Sareth with the primary mission of providing life development to underprivileged Cambodian children through arts education and vocational training, enabling them an opportunity to mould their own future. Through the school’s model of liberal art pedagogy and its commitment to the excitement of learning, BAC aims to produce the next generation of Cambodian students who are both socially and environmentally conscious of their lived and built surroundings. BAC’s secondary mission is to be an incubator for contemporary art in Cambodia, connecting local artists to the current international discourses through its infrastructure, residency programmes and personnel network.

Richard Koh Fine Art was founded in 2005, with spaces in Singapore, Bangkok, and Kuala Lumpur, is committed to the promotion of Southeast Asian contemporary art on regional and international platforms. Centred around a core belief in developing an artist’s career, the gallery looks to identify understated, albeit promising practices and provide it opportunities to flourish.
